what it is

Your lymphatic system is a critical component of your immune system, performing multiple important bodily functions. Most notably, the lymphatic system produces and distributes white blood cells, which fight invading viruses, bacteria, and parasites. Additionally, the lymphatic system maintains fluid levels throughout the body, and removes waste products from the cellular system.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) massage is a unique technique performed by a specially trained and certified therapist. The technique utilizes a series of light gliding, stretching, and compression movements, stimulating lymph fluid to flow more easily. This strengthens your immune system and accelerates the healing process post-surgery. While gentle and relaxing, MLD has powerful effects.

why should I consider MLD massage?

MLD massage provides a drug-free, natural means to help combat the health challenges associated with modern living, pre- and post-surgical healthcare, and other conditions. The recommended personal habits required to maintain a healthy lymphatic system include living an overall healthy lifestyle. We have heard it before: a clean diet, exercise, staying hydrated, and avoiding the chemicals founds in our cleaning supplies and foods are what we need. That sounds good on paper doesn’t it? Unfortunately, very few of us follow these guidelines, often leaving our lymphatic systems sluggish and compromising our immune systems. While beneficial for all, MLD is even more important post-surgery.

what you can expect

The relaxing MLD massage is delivered using light strokes and gentle stretching of the skin, with gloves, and without oil. Treatments are 60 minutes long, with 50 minutes of hands-on time. Please drink at least 16 oz of water prior to your massage. Expect to use the restroom immediately following, and several times throughout the rest of the day. This is how lymph is cleansed from the body. As expected, our patients enjoy the treatment and report being relaxed when their MLD massage is complete!
