what is gua sha

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a technique that uses specialized tools to treat the skin, fascia, muscles, and tendons. Evolved from Gua Sha, a method used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for more than 4,000 years, both techniques use instruments with smooth edges applied to the skin in repeated strokes to break down fascial restrictions and scar tissue to restore range of motion and decrease pain within the body.

These conditions can all be treated with IASTM/Gua Sha along with many other conditions. Individuals of all ages can benefit from this technique!

Traction/Flexion Distraction

Traction and Flexion Distraction are two of our newest services at AHN. These are decompression therapies that take pressure off of the spine and the discs, allowing the nerves that come out of them to function properly. This form of therapy helps relieve pain, increase range of motion and can greatly reduce radicular symptoms (pain going down your arm or leg). Many patients can stay away from more invasive treatments like injections or surgery with a combination of chiropractic and traction. Our patients at AHN are loving our new table!
