For over 2 years, Valerie Jones and I have been hosting a free networking breakfast at my practice. Hundreds of you have joined us to promote your business and build new relationships. As many of you know, Valerie has been quietly battling breast cancer.

Valerie and I met in 2000 through the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce; we quickly became fast friends. If you know Valerie, you love her. Her smile, laugh and warmth are unmatched. Even through this life-changing fight, she has remained unchanged. She has drawn on her faith, family and friends to keep a positive attitude. She has been an inspiration.

During this battle, Valerie endured 16 chemotherapy treatments, a mastectomy and 33 radiation treatments. She went through all of this while still running her business and raising two daughters. It's been a challenging time, as you can imagine. She thought her long journey was complete. Unfortunately just after the 4th of July, Valerie found out that her remission was over.

Valerie will be undergoing another challenge again, just after believing that her ordeal was over. She is confident of a full recovery and healing. Valerie will begin additional treatments later this month. The treatments she will be going through are very expensive and most of the expenses will not be covered by insurance. Valerie has given so much to so many, that we want to help her regain her health, without having to face a financial challenge as well.
