When it gets dark and cold outside, motivating yourself to keep exercising is even more difficult than usual, however it is vital that you remain fit and healthy as the winter sets in. Here are some reasons why:
1. Extra Eating - during the winter and especially over Christmas we tend to eat more than we would normally. Exercising is a great way to burn those extra calories and keep yourself in shape so when it comes to summer – there is less hard work to do!
2. Seasonal Affective Disorder - or as it is more commonly known S.A.D is something which affects many people. This is caused by a combination of lack of sunshine, poor nutrition and a decrease in activity and can cause forms of depression over the winter months. Exercise can help combat S.A.D as when you exercise your body release endorphins which keep the blues at bay.
